Large pewter dish,

Bergerac 17th century

Presence of two hallmarks, including the control hallmark imposed by Louis XIV

in 1657 and compulsory from 1691 which required the name of the city, the letter C (commun) or F (fin) to be affixed in a circular hallmark

and the date of 1691

Here it is a master potter from “Bergerac” south-west, current Dordogne

Diameter: 35.7 cm

The so-called common pewter was reserved for dishes,

it contains a fairly high proportion of lead (10 to 20%) (unlike the end 10%)

Partial wear from use, good general condition
